Master "D" Bait

Everyone is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lusts and enticed. All actions, wrong or right, begin with a temptation, or an enticement. If there is no enticement or encouragement to do something we won't do it. An enticement is a "feel good" result. The Greek word is deleázō (from delear, "bait") – properly, to bait a hook or set a trap with bait; (figuratively) entice a victim into a moral trap, luring them in through their own selfish impulses.

The Greek word for entice, Deleazo, means to Bait, like baiting a hook or setting a trap. But a trap is only effective if the victim has an interest in the promised reward. The act of Masturbation, or any other sexual act, is only a temptation if you have an interest in what is offered. If a Eunuch sees a naked woman, he will not be tempted. Guess why. Eunuchs have no interest in sex. I insist, for a temptation to be genuine, it must have enticement capabilities. It must appeal to the person. In other words, a trap or a bait must interact with something. EG. If you want my son to give you money which he does not have and you offer him a glass of wine, you will starve, because he has no attraction to wine. You want to bait/entice/ someone? Find out what they love.

Satan enticed Jesus. "All these will I give you if you bow down and worship me. Maybe Jesus had a penchant for power and wealth having been the richest person in the universe yet for our sakes he became poor. (2 Cor. 8:9). ________________________________________________________________________

All actions result from a temptation to do something. And all temptation promises something.

Key 1. Control your desires. Right now, you cannot tempt me with Ice Cream. I have deliberately controlled my desires for sweet things. So if sweet things are your Bait to get me to do something. I'm sorry. I have mastered that Bait.

There are different ways to control your desire. Convince your self that something is not good for you. It's going to kill you. Like sugar. Its trying to kill me. Learn about what you want to control. Mr. Google is your friend.

Key 2. Avoid exposure to the bait. If the fish does not see the bait he will not be tempted by it. Don't pass or go where the Bait is. Flee youthful lusts (2 Tim 2:22).

You have a choice. You can go places where you will be enticed, or you can go places which will edify and strengthen you in the Lord. You have a will. You can make a choice. Job said in "I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman" (Job 31:1 NIV).

If you take the David/Batsheba incident. David arose from his bed and walked upon the roof of the King's house. This was not a casual stroll. History shows us that the architecture of those days was flat-topped houses where people could relax, pray or even bathe or wash themselves. When David walked upon his roof, he knew or he ought to have known that his house being naturally higher than the every-day man's, he would be exposing himself to see and be seen. I suggest that this was a deliberate act or careless act of voyeurism. It's just like going to the beach, there are women with bikinis and skimpy clothing. Or if you are in Canada or the US and you stand on your back porch in summer, you'd see women wearing strings. Bathsheba herself could or should have known that houses higher than hers could have seen her.

How different is Job from David

We ought to be caretakers of each other's conscience. When we are not, we sin against God by wounding our weak brothers' or sisters' consciences. Of course, one might say David was no weak brother. But it tells us that kings, priests, and pastors have their weak moments. David had no right peeking around from the rooftop of his house knowing himself and what he might see. Avoid exposure to Baits.

I can remember many years ago I went (am wondering if I should share this with you) to Jamaica to a Banking Workshop. The boys decide to go out for the night. I went with them, not knowing whither wenteth we. We ended up in a strip club. Oh my goodness. What am I doing in a strip club. One stripper psyched out an old colleague and began to gyrate on him. And the poor old fella was just squeezing himself to death. Me? I was just praying like a praying mantis. Evil communication corrupt good manners. Choose wisely where you go.

Key 3. Find a good substitute. So approximately once per month I buy a bottle of Honey. So occasionally I dip my finger in the honey and lick it. That alleviates my craving for something sweet. Some people, in order to quit smoking, chew gum. (I don't know what they do to quit chewing gum. LOL)

Remember DET. Temptation is fatal when you are:

Drawn Away - it You allow your curiosity to lure you to a place that is dangerous for you.

Enticed - Your desires are not controlled, and you begin to view the Bait as desirable.

Try it out - You fail to resist making an attempt to try the bait.

If you can control your desires, you will not be drawn away. I knew a brother, who was living in a house with a shared TV. When he accidentally saw porn for the first time he was disgusted. He cannot be drawn away, He cannot be enticed. He cannot be tempted. I went by a 75 year old gentleman that I was befriending. (I was about 50 at the time). He gave me his remote control and told me "Here. Look at TV". The first thing that came up was the most heinous, deplorable, ugly, porn that you could possibly see. I quickly switched. I learned later that this man was an established homosexual. Now If I knew that, why would I go to his home, And a sister from my church was living in the same building where he was living. And she tells me "You're not going to see Mr. Jeffries, (not his real name) he's sick.? And my wife says "O my gawd, this woman might think you in it.

That was a double bait thrown at me. One was the Porn and Two was the Homo. But the devil failed because he did not do his homework. If he did his home work he would have known that his enticement would not have worked. I mastered the Bait.

So, what we have covered is to Avoid having the desire. Avoid being drawn away. Avoid being enticed. Avoid trying it out. Ask questions.

But suppose you have the desire, suppose you are drawn away, suppose you are enticed.

Then what do you do. Lie Down and Roll Over?

I get entice when I see something nice

So i decide to eat be cause it smelling sweet

But when I bite Imagine my plight

Its a hook in my mouth and I can' get out

No matter how I bawl or beat mih head

Before you know it, I end up dead.

1. Remember Joseph. Reflect on God. How can I do this great wickedness and sin against your God. Reverence your God.

2. Remember the Word. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

Avoiding

1. .Fast and Pray.

2. .Stay away from things that excite.

3. .Do not engage in conversations that could lead to sin.

4. .Do like Joseph and run.

5. .Do not wear provocative clothing to attract the attention of the opposite sex.

6. .Set boundaries: do not have late night conversations with the opposite sex.

7. .Stay away from alcohol, it entraps.

Overcoming

1. Confess your faults one to another.

2. Find someone to be accountable to.

3. Fast and pray.

4. Determine in your heart not to sin against God.

5. Get back up as many times as you have to, on your journey to restoration

6. Take advantage of the Sanctuary - Keep going before God and confess your weakness, asking him to keep you from going back to that sin. He will give you Mercy and Grace. Mercy to Forget and forgive yourself and strength to move on.

7. Uninstall apps on your phone/iPad which will draw you.

Everyone is tempted when drawn away by his own lust.

1. Learn to manage your desires.

2. Do not keep silent, it will destroy you internally. (Ps 32 :3)

3. Confess your faults and weaknesses to someone.

4. Have someone close, who can support you in your area of weakness.

5. Keep groaning through your pain/weaknesses.

6. Do not cover your sin. Prov. 28:13.

7. Secrecy prolongs the state of weakness/sin

Community/Church Help

2. More public teachings and discussions on sexual sins removes the taboo and opens the door for confession.

3. The strong needs to demonstrate acceptance to the weak and not turn them away.

4. Prayer and fast help with developing self-discipline and control.

5. Have someone from outside come in address the taboo topics.
