Why Judah?

I could have called this site OhDavid or even OhJacob
I wanted to choose the person who is the greatest example of God's abounding Grace..

The  top 4 persons for whom there was the greatest "Redemption Gap" were:

Jacob -  from Swindler to Sanctified Scion
Judah -  from Trickster to a Lion's Whelp
David  -  from Womanizer to a man after God's own heart
Paul     -  from perpetrator of evil and murderer to Patron Saint

These are men who were molded by God's Mastery.  Judah grew up in an environment plagued by:
1. A Scheming Grandfather
2. Rivalry and competition among 4 Sex starved women
3. Paternal favoritism - Jacob loved Joseph
4. Sibling jealousy - They hated Joseph
5. Domestic violence - his brothers threatened to kill him
6. Covenantal betrayal - they forsook brotherly covenant
7. Two dead sons - divine justice slew his first two sons
8. Community scandal - Judah leaving home
9. Harlotry and Trickery - his daughter in law playing harlot
10. Unfaithfulness    Read More .......

But in the end Judah was restored and anointed as the family sanctified Scion. Jacob prophetically said "It is you whom your brethren shall praise."

I nominate Judah for bridging the greatest redemption gap.

What to expect
This is a meta narrative. A meta narrative is a story about
stories. We analyse the sex stories of the Bible - the succeses and the failures and note how God is weaving a greater story of his love, his greatness and his grace.
This site is called OhJudah, because Judah was one of the early failures with respect to sex - an example of how men struggle with sex. But God redeemed Judah and God blessed him so that Jacob declared "the scepter shall not depart from Judah nor a Law Giver from between his feet until Shiloh comes" as opposed to Reuben who was another sex failure but Jacob's words to Reuben were "thou shalt not excel". How does God decide whom to redeem and whom not. Delve into the unchangeable character of God and its incremental unfolding. There is enough here to keep your adrenalin pumpimg. As you may know, Reuben slept with his father's concubine and Judah slept with his daughter in law.
But  we have other serious sexual aberrations, like David and Bathseba, Solomon and his 700 wives and 300 concubines, Sampson and Delilah, and the Corinthian Reuben. Yet it was always God's intention to bring all his people home to glory. Follow this intriguing story of sin, shame and salvation from the Garden to Golgotha.
