Scheme 4

Sex is a personal choice and pre-disposition to join With whom, where, when and How one desires

Whereas it is a command of God and you are not your own, you are bought with a price, and you must be very choosy, particular, and God glorifying in your choice of a sexual partner.

______________________________________________________

Before Leviticus 18 And Deut. 22 was written, do we have any Scriptures that tell us any thing about what was God's opinion or views on a man going into a woman?

Imagining we did not know anything, we did not have the modern views about sex and sexuality, all we had was the bible. What would be our feeling as to how God views sex?

Creation Narrative (Genesis 1–2)

We will gather 1) from Genesis 1:27–28: God created male and female, blessed them, and commanded them to “be fruitful and multiply.” God is saying, “Go have sex and make children.”

This is significant. By creating male and female God designed them and equipped them with the characteristics that make one being Male and another being Female. They are not interchangeable. And he designed it in such a way that they both need each other in order to achieve God’s plan of procreation. God was not going to sit all day re-creating men and women. He gave that responsibility to man.

That statement “He made them male and female” is fully loaded. God has engineered two beings with separate and distinct capacity. When these capacities are put together they will re-enact what God did. They will make man and woman. Is not that marvelous.

The wise man said in Eccl. 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions. That word inventions have been translated devices and schemes and in Psalm 106:39 “Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions”.

It is not farfetched to believe and understand that what we have to day called Sex – is a distant deviation from the sanctified divine creation of God and the challenge is ours to differentiate what is normal from abnormal, moral from immoral.

God’s Creation

Biological Perspective

• Chromosomes: The most fundamental distinction is genetic. Males typically have XY chromosomes, females XX chromosomes.

• Reproductive Anatomy: Male: designed to produce and deliver sperm. We have a producer and a deliverer.           Female: designed to produce eggs, conceive, and nurture life in the womb. They have a receiver and a conceiver.

• Secondary Sexual Characteristics: At puberty, males develop traits like facial hair, deeper voice, greater muscle mass; females develop traits like breasts, wider hips, and higher body fat distribution for childbearing.

• This shows that sexual union is part of God’s design for humanity, tied to fruitfulness and blessing.

The coming together of these attributes is done in an act called “Sex”. But God doesn’t call it that. God says, Lie with, Know, Uncover nakedness, Sleep with. But we call it having sexual intercourse.

Genesis 2:24: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

This is the earliest statement of God’s intent: sexual union is meant to be covenantal (“one flesh”), within marriage.

Scriptural/Theological Perspective

• Genesis 1:27: “Male and female He created them.”

• The distinction is divinely intentional, not incidental.

• Genesis 2:24: The union of male and female is designed to become “one flesh.”

• Theologically, the most significant distinction is role in fruitfulness and covenantal union: male initiates seed, female receives and nurtures life. Together they reflect God’s image in complementary form.

Philosophical/Relational Perspective

• Male and female are not just biological categories but symbolic polarities:

• Male often associated with outward strength, initiative, and seed-bearing.

• Female often associated with inward strength, receptivity, and life-bearing.

• The distinction is not about superiority but complementarity — each embodies aspects of humanity that the other does not.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

In other words the fulness of a man is complementarized by  woman and the fulness of a woman is brought to fruition by the man. That complementarity takes place when they have a  sexual union. The man is not without the woman and the woman is not without the man.

God in his graciousness has made the act an enjoyable one. One that creates pleasure for both the man and the woman.

What would you think of the statement: The primary purpose of sex is procreation a secondary purpose is pleasure and gratification and the expression of love which is the emotional lubricant that enhances the pleasure of sex.

Sex is enjoyed more when accomplished with some one you love

So when you lie or stand or sit or bend remember … Some people pray and thank God  and… that’s not bad  … because some of us need help from the almighty. Know that you are enjoying God’s Gift,

To understand how we have deviated we must compare pre-fall behaviour with post-fall behaviour and examine God’s response  to behaviours that were:

  1. Con-tra biological

  2. Contra- Social

  3. Contra Spiritual

  4. Contra covenantal

Biological

Sex must be done between two people who provides the “biological fit”.  Romans 1:27

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. This must have been one of the schemes or devices that man has devised far as Gid’s creation of Male and Female is concerned.

In Gen. 19:4 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

By the time of Lot, sexual intercourse had become so corrupted that men were now willing to have sex with other men.

Rom. 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Anti Social

1 Corinthians 6:16

What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. It is indisputable that God is referring to his divine creation of Male and Female as previously referred to “two saith he shall be one”. Having sex with a harlot is an anti-social behaviour.

Anti Spiritual

2 Cor. 6: 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Gen. 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

This sexual union between “the sons of God and the daughters of men” were another scheme, device. Every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  So not only was sexual cohabitation restricted to Male and Female, in God’s mind it was also to be restricted to people of the same spiritual kind.

Contra-Covenantal

Proverbs 5:15

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Sex is covenantal, a commitment and agreement between two people to be one. For this cause ………

Early Narratives of Sexual Conduct

• Genesis 4:1: “Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived…”

• The language of “knowing” shows intimacy as natural and blessed within marriage.

• Genesis 6:1–2: The “sons of God” taking wives from the “daughters of men” is presented negatively, leading to corruption before the flood.

• This suggests God disapproved of unions that crossed divine boundaries or were driven by lust rather than covenant.

• Genesis 19 (Sodom): The attempted sexual violence against Lot’s guests is condemned, showing God’s disapproval of exploitative or abusive sexual acts.

• Genesis 34 (Dinah and Shechem): Shechem’s act of lying with Dinah before marriage is portrayed as shameful and dishonorable, even though he later sought to marry her.

Patriarchal Examples

• Genesis 20 & 26: Abraham and Isaac’s wives are protected from being taken by foreign kings. God intervenes to prevent sexual relations outside the covenant bond.

• Genesis 38 (Judah & Tamar): Judah’s union with Tamar outside proper covenantal recognition is treated as scandalous, though Tamar’s pursuit of offspring ties back to God’s design for fruitfulness.

Summary

Before Leviticus and Deuteronomy, Scripture already shows:

• Sexual union is good and blessed within marriage (Genesis 2, 4).

• It is tied to fruitfulness and covenant.

• Sexual acts outside covenant (violence, lust, exploitation, fornication) are portrayed as dishonorable or corrupt.

• God actively intervenes to protect covenantal integrity (Sarah, Rebekah).

So, God’s “opinion” is clear even before the Law: intimacy is sacred, designed for covenantal marriage, and distorted unions are condemned.

God's design for sex is that it be bilogically, socially, spiritually and covenantally correct.
